Danny Trejo, the independent film “Bob Trevino Like It”, with John Leguizamo and Barbie Ferreira, and “The Bear” Breakout Liza Colón-Zayas were among the winners of the 40th Awards Annual Imagen Awards.
The Imagen Awards, who honor the creators, artists and Latin American artists in 27 categories through cinema, streaming and television, took place on Friday evening at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
“Bob Trevino Like It” dominated the film categories, with the dramatic that will appeal to the crowd winning the best feature film as well as the best prices of actors and actress for Leguizamo and Ferreira, respectively. The prices of supporting actor went to Benjamin Bratt (“Millers in Marriage”) and Sasha Calle (“On Swift Horses”), while Fede Álvarez won the prize for the best director for “Alien: Romulus”.
In the television categories, “The Last of Us” by HBO won the best dramatic series, while “Land of Women” by Apple TV + and “y Llegaron de Noche” by Vix tied for the best comedy series. The interim winners were Colón-Zayas, the star of the “The Life List” Sofia Carson, Gabriel Luna of “The Last of Us” and the star of “The Lincoln Lawyer”, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The History Channel of Trejo series, “Mysteries Unherhed”, has been named best variety or reality TV show.
Dailyn Rodriguez, executive producer and Co-showrunner of “The Lincoln Lawyer” from Netflix, accepted the Norman Lear Writer’s Award of the organization. The special prize recognizes the exceptional creative talent of Latin origin which has excelled in television or cinema and an authentic cultural representation advanced and is appointed in honor of the legendary television producer and Co-founder of Imagen, Norman Lear, which, in 1985, helped to establish the organization to encourage and recognize the positive representations of Latinos in the media.

Gustavo Dudamel, international composer and musical director of Los Angeles Philharmonic, was honored by the Prix of President Imagen in recognition of his musical contributions and his role in the young Los Angeles (Yola). Created in 2007, Yola provides free instruments, musical training and academic support for students aged 6 to 18 from low -income communities.
This year’s imagen prices will be broadcast on PBS on Wednesday October 1 at 9 p.m. (PST) during the month of Hispanic heritage.
