Daniel Jones injury update: Colts QB out for remainder of season with torn Achilles

The Indianapolis Colts will have to finish this season without their quarterback as Daniel Jones suffered a torn Achilles tendon in their 36-19 Week 14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team announced that Jones would miss the remainder of the season.
Jones was playing through a left fibula injury, but tore the Achilles tendon in his right leg in the first quarter Sunday during a pass attempt. While Jones was able to limp to the locker room on his own, the Colts were quick to rule him out.
Jones, 28, was one of the NFL’s standout returners this season as the Colts got off to a 7-1 start. However, they have lost four of their last five games, with Jones throwing five interceptions in that span.
Who the Colts will play with at quarterback is a legitimate question. Rookie Riley Leonard replaced Jones under center Sunday and completed 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards and an interception while adding a rushing touchdown. Then there’s Anthony Richardson, the former No. 4 pick who is currently on injured reserve after suffered an orbital fracture during pre-match warm-ups in mid-October. He lost the quarterback battle to Jones this preseason and is 8-7 as a starter for Indy.
The Colts were once considered the best team in the NFL, but with an 8-5 record, it’s no longer a given that they’ll make the playoffs. Indy relinquished control of the AFC South with its loss to Jacksonville on Sunday and faces one of the toughest remaining schedules in the NFL:
