Dani Dies in FBI Season 8, Episode 1 (But It’s a Good Death)

Warning! Spoilers ahead for FBI Season 8, Episode 1, “Takeover.”
FBI Season 8 opens with a major defeat against Jubal’s team, but there is a silver lining to that. As part of CBS’ 2025-2026 television schedule, Dick Wolf’s only show on the network has gradually increased its audience over the years. Either way, FBI took over all the shows of Law and order And A Chicago franchises in terms of ratings. Given that, it makes sense that this is one of the most anticipated premieres of the cycle.
Now let’s move on to Monday night after CBS decided to launch NCIS’ Super Tuesday, FBI is currently autonomous. The shock cancellation of FBI: International And FBI: Most Wanted paves the way for the arrival of a third spin-off, CIA. The show, however, is postponed to a mid-season premiere, allowing full focus on the flagship.
In FBI Season 8, Episode 1 picks up a few days after the Season 7 finale. Isobel’s fate remains uncertain, although it is unclear what the future holds for her. As Maggie and OA find themselves trapped on an island and successfully solve the case, the team suffers a major loss.
Dani Rhodes Dies in FBI Season 8, Episode 1
As Scola and Dani rush to help Maggie and OA, who are surrounded by misinformed townspeople, they must get creative with how they enter the island. Previously, the only bridge connecting it to the mainland had exploded, forcing FBI SWAT to enter through the water.
They are ambushed when they dock, resulting in Dani being shot. She claimed the vest caught the bullet, but it didn’t. Not realizing she’s been shot in the abdomen, Dani collapses just as things deescalate.
It doesn’t seem so bad at first, but FBI season 8, episode 1 presents a double twist: Isobel wakes up in the hospital while Dani dies on the island. Ultimately, his death ends the outing on a somber note, especially as Scola, Maggie, and OA come to terms with the loss as his body lies on the ground.
Dani’s death is a better exit from the FBI for Emily Alabi
Obviously, any death, especially that of a major character, is not good. Dani joined FBI at the end of season 7, following a series of failed partners for Scola in the wake of Tiffany’s exit from the series. CBS tried different characters to partner with John Boyd’s agent, but there was always something wrong with the dynamic.
Dani was undoubtedly the better tandem than Scola from Tiffany. They worked well together and had incredible chemistry. As an individual character, she was also interesting. It is not clear why she was excluded FBIbut a heroic death is a much better exit than giving a half-baked excuse to get rid of a character – which he’s done before.
Moving forward, FBI introduces a completely new character who could be Scola’s permanent partner, played by
Juliana Aidén Martinez. Not much is known about the character, but she has big shoes to fill. In addition to being a worthy successor to Tiffany, she also replaces Dani, who died a heroic death.
