Despite a stacked list of celebrity cameos, one of the Saturday Night Live“Not Ready for Primetime Players” has chosen to jump the 50th anniversary of the show.
After the actor was notably absent from SNL50: the special birthdayDan Aykroyd revealed why he had missed the stage celebration with his ancient colleagues from the comedy NBC in February.
“I wanted to be at home and wanted to watch the program start to end,” he recently explained to Weekly entertainment.
“I knew that if I was there, I would be in a dressing room, I would work. I wanted to see it live,” added Aykroyd. “I am a fan of the show today, and I look at him all the time. I love these new players; I think they’re just great. I just wanted to see and live with nostalgically my family in my own house, eat my own popcorn. ”
Aykroyd previously praised Lorne Michaels’ programming as “triumphant” after watching the birthday special and SNL50: the return concert.

Aykroyd – who appeared on Snl From its inaugural season in 1975 to 1979 and also created characters such as the Coneheads and the Festrunk Brothers – was referenced several times during the anniversary weekend.
