Veronica Burton of Golden State Valkyries named 2025 Kia Wnba the most improved player

NEW YORK, September 15, 2025 – Golden State Valkyries Veronica Burton was named the most improved player in Kia WNBA 2025, WNBA announced today.

Burton obtained 68 of the 72 votes from a national panel of sports writers and broadcasters. Azurá Stevens finished second place with 2 votes, and Allisha Gray and Natisha Hiedeman equaled to third place with 1 vote each.

During its fourth WNBA season, Burton recorded an average of 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.1 interceptor in 44 games, against 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.5 interceptor in 31 games with the SUN Connecticut in 2024.

The only Valkyries player to start the 44 regular season games, Burton ranked third in the WNBA in assists per game and ninth as a percentage of francs (87.8). On August 19 against the Phoenix Mercury, she became the first player in the history of the WNBA to have at least 24 points, at least 14 assists and no turnover in a match. It was one of his three games in 2025 with 10 assists or more and no turnover, a record in a single WNBA season.

Burton helped the Valkyries (23-21) to establish the WNBA record for victories by an expansion team in its inaugural season. She also led the Valkyries to be the first expansion team to reach the WNBA qualifiers presented by Google in its first season.

Burton was selected by the Dallas Wings with the seventh choice in total to the recovery of the WNBA 2022 presented by State Farm. After playing two seasons with Dallas and a season with Connecticut, she was selected by the Valkyries in the WNBA 2024 extension draft presented by State Farm.

In honor of being named the most improved player in Kia Wnba, Burton will receive $ 5,150 and a trophy designed to commemorate his success.
