Curtis Sliwa has a path to become the next mayor of New York

For a large part of the New York business community, it is difficult to take Curtis Sliwa seriously.
He seems to sleep in his goalkeeper Red Guardian Angels.
Its high octane diatribes in a highly accentuated external fur can be annoying.
The largest sources of liquidity in the campaign barely know that he is presented for the mayor as class courts Fat Cat Eric Adams, former governor Andrew Cuomo and even Marxist Zohran Mamdani, who has turned the race upset by winning the Democratic primary.
However, the last time I checked, most large apple voters are not big cats.
Sliwa, Red Beret and All, is a striking distance from the Mamdani and Cuomo frontrunners, 22%, and beating Adams easily in a four -men race, according to a recent Harris survey.
“You always say to follow the figures. In a four -way race, I have a path to victory because people really love me and they have problems with others,” said Sliwa in an interview.
It is enough to say that this was an unequal trajectory for the current role of Sliwa as candidate for the mayor of the GOP in a resolutely democratic city.
I have covered the climb of Sliwa since I was a journalist for the newspaper of the University of Pace in the mid -1980s, according to him and his crime prevention troops, the aforementioned Guardian Angels.
We have common friends and broke bread during dinner.
And yes, he wore his beret throughout our meals.
Still the showman, he staged once his own abduction to advertise.
He was really kidnapped and pulled three times, allegedly as a recovery for having repeatedly attacked the crowd for drug trafficking.
The shooting almost took the life of Sliwa, but that did not slow it down.
He continued to move away on television, as a host of the radio show and with the angels.
He remained relevant because the violent crimes returned to the city during the Bill de Blasio, then under Adams, against which Sliwa ran and lost by a wide margin.
Monetary deficit
He is back there and, according to the latest polls, has a chance.
While Sliwa travels collection of funds – by many (after having succeeded $ 169,000, against $ 1.5 million for Adams during the last reference period), his campaign style in person, not in Hamptons like Cuomo but in metros and around the five district, seems to work.
In other words, he drew the attention of the business world.
He said that he did not register with Kathy Wylde of NYC Partnership, the largest group of companies in the city, who met all the candidates with the exception of Sliwa – even passing last week to listen to the strange explanations of Mamdani on the socialist crimes of the seizure of the means of production, the funding of the police and refusing to deactivate the globalization of the intifada.
Sliwa tells me that the city’s power brokers make a big mistake the snobbling because he is the only real sales candidate.
(Wylde says that Sliwa, unlike others, has not yet asked for a meeting.)
He plans to return Midtown to a real business Mecca thanks to increased crime prevention and abandoning the pricing of congestion which reduces the pedestrian circulation of retail and affects the value of the properties.
He will reduce taxes and eliminate government expanses, such as the city’s education bureaucracy that does horrible work by educating children and doing good work using a lot of bureaucrats.
“Large companies hide its bets and move to Florida, Texas, even in Tennessee,” said Sliwa.
“It is impossible to prevent them from diversifying, but you must convince them to keep what they have by getting rid of the homeless and ensuring that women are sheltered from perverts in the metro when they work.”
Native of Brooklyn
Sliwa is a real New York, a native of Brooklyn who has never lived outside the city, unlike Adams or Cuomo, the son of former governor Mario Cuomo.
He comes from a workers’ family in Canarsia, which is very different from the privileged education of Manhattan from Mamdani with money rotation.
Sliwa’s professional policies are the reason why he insists that this “represents” the big cats of the Wylde group “to treat me with a minimum of respect. I am here to support small and medium -sized enterprises, as well as guys and Fortune 500 girls who pay most of our taxes. ”
One way to do so is to combat the increase in crimes and keep the police commissioner of Adams, Jessica Tisch, in her work, he says.
“She is a saint in a cauldron of corruption,” said Sliwa, referring to the scandals that swallowed up the Adams administration.
“Zohran would never exist if Adams had been a decent half-chemin mayor, and that I am the only person who has a complete socialist control in New York.”
Cuomo, according to Sliwa, is just as bad, having lost Mamdani badly in the Democratic primary because of his own skeletons, his manipulation of the chief cocoards among them, said the republican candidate.
“Cuomo’s approvals are as bad as that of Adams. People don’t like them. But they love me,” he said.
Mandami can be superficially sympathetic, but he will transform the large apple into “a sea of socialism and will destroy the city”, according to Sliwa.
More than anything, Sliwa wanted to clarify that he did not give up despite information that he could find a job in the Trump administration to reduce the land and prevent a mayor of Mamdani.
“No one will bring me to leave the race,” he said.
In fact, he is so committed, he is committed to putting away his red brand beret if he was elected.
“We realize that the beret is a recurring question,” he said.
“When the elected mayor, I will remove it.”
