The Chicago Cubs recalled the third goal player Matt Shaw from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, while the inner field player Nicky Lopez was appointed for assignment.
Shaw, 23, struck. 295 with a 1,119 ops, five circuits, 10 products produced and 15 points in his last 11 games with Iowa. He started the season with the Cubs and beaten .172 with a circuit, three points produced and 18 stick withdrawals in 18 games.
The Cubs selected Shaw with the 13th choice in total to the 2023 draft from the University of Maryland.
Lopez, 30, was signed by the Cubs in February, released in March, then re-signed on April 23 after a short stay with the Los Angeles Angels.
Lopez was 1 for 18 in 14 games for the Cubs this season. In 686 games in seven seasons with five clubs, Lopez is a career striker .245 with seven circuits and 153 products.
