Bharat Arun has been working as KKR bowling coach since the IPL 2022 season.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will not only make changes to their team but also to the support staff before the Indian Premier League season (IPL) 2026. Winning only 4 of the 14 games, CSK finished lasting last in the 18th edition. Nothing has clicked for champions 5 times.
The striker and the bowling alley continued to change throughout the tournament. Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured in halfway and Ms Dhoni took over as captain, but nothing positive came in terms of results. Thus, CSK had decided to make some changes.
Bharat Arun, leaving KKR for CSK?
According to the Times of India, Bharat Arun will join the yellow army as a bowling coach for IPL 2026. Part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2022 as a bowling coach, Arun separates from the franchise on a mutual agreement. KKR made official that they had separated with head coach Chandrakanth Pandit, but have not yet confirmed the departure of Arun.
As for CSK, Eric Simons is their bowling coach. The former South African fast launcher has been with them since 2018. They have brought Sridharan Sriram as an assistant Bowling coach for IPL 2025. For the moment, a senior CSK official has denied having brought Arun to the Board of Directors.
Speaking of Arun, he is one of the most respected coaches in India. He was the bowling coach of the national team from 2014 to 2014 to 2014, and then again from July 16, 2017 at the end of the T20 2021 World Cup. It was under him that India developed his quartet of rhythm of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
Given what it brings to the table, most teams would like to grasp it quickly. Having worked as a bowling chief coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before, he has established a link with several Indian quisors and has experience with emerging quisors, because he was also coach of India U-19 in the past.
Under Arun, quick quisors like the hard Rana and Vaibhav Arora have succeeded very well. Harshit has already made his debut in all formats for India, while Vaibhav turned out to be the best rhythm of KKR in IPL 2025 and took the most joint counters for them.
