Cricket is motionless! Why the players of Pakistan and Afghanistan observed silence before the T20i conflict in Sharjah | Cricket news

New Delhi: A one-minute silence was observed at the Sharjah cricket stadium before the start of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Tri-Series match, in memory of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan and the floods in Pakistan. Players on both sides have solemnly aligned themselves as a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives in twin tragedies.Captain Afghan Rashid Khan also expressed his sorrow on social networks, publishing an emotional message. “The heart broken for my people in Kunar after the devastating earthquake,” wrote Rashid, while prayers and condolences flocked through the world of cricket. The earthquake of the size of 6.0 struck the eastern Afghanistan late Sunday, flattening whole villages and leaving generalized destruction in its wake. According to officials, at least 800 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 2,500 others were injured. The toll should increase while rescue operations continue in remote mountain regions. The epicenter was located near Jalalabad, an eastern city of approximately 200,000 inhabitants, less than 100 miles from Kabul and near the Pakistani border. The shallow depth of only five miles made the earthquake particularly destructive.Videos shared on social networks have shown that residents are rushing overnight to save neighbors trapped under mud and collapsed brick houses. The United Nations confirmed that four Eastern – Nangarhar, Nuristan, Laghman and Kunar – provinces were seriously affected. Dozens of Kunar villages have been reduced to rubble.Strong tremors have been felt in the region, including parts of Pakistan, although no major victim was reported. Meanwhile, international aid has been slow to arrive, with only a handful of countries to date offering assistance to the Afghan government led by the Taliban. While the cricket was going forward in Sharjah, the dark scenes recalled the human suffering which takes place through the border.
