Mumbai: In the one hand, the BCCI’s aspirations to hold the “Ultimate Test”, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Sunday that England will host the final of the next three editions of the World Test Championship in 2027, 2029 and 2031. The ICC made the decision at its annual conference in Singapore this weekend.Since the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship in 201921, England has been the only hosts. Southampton welcomed the first WTC final between India and New Zealand in 2021, while India and Australia challenged the second WTC final in London in 2023. In 2025, the cricket house `Home of Cricket ‘hosted the third WTC final, between Australia and South Africa.“The Board of Directors also confirmed the allocation of accommodation rights for the finals of the CPI World Test Championship for editions 2027, 2029 and 2031 to the Cricket Board of Directors in England and Wales, after a successful assessment in the organization of the recent final,” the CPI said in a media statement on Sunday.According to reliable sources, the BCCI was very interested in bringing the event to its side, but this possibility was brought to the blow for the next six years.
Boost for the Afghanistan women’s team
In another important development, the ICC has decided that the Afghanistan’s moved female cricket team, most of which are currently resident in Australia, will be involved in one way or another in the next two women’s World Cups – the ODI 2025 World Cup in India and the T20 2026 World Cup in England next June. The qualification process for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup is already over. For the moment, there is no clarity to what extent the female team of Afghanistan will be involved. USA Cricket made an opinion

Three new officials from the associated countries were elected to the General Committee of the CPI Gurumurthy Palani in France, Anuraag Bhatnagar of Cricket Hong Kong and Gardeep Klair of Cricket Canada.
