Cougar alert issued for the Whistler’s Tamarisk / Bayshores region

After a week of relative calm, another cougar alert was issued to Whistler.
According to the municipality of the Whistler complex (RMOW), the service of the British Columbia conservation officer “shared an observation of Couguar in the Tamarisk / Bayshores region”.
No other information or detail has been provided. In a follow-up email, a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Environment said: “There was a suspended couguar around a bus stop and a parking lot in Whistler last night.
“We cannot confirm if it is the same couguar (s) behind the recent activity in Whistler. Little that we can add but want to give a warning.”
This last report occurs in the heels of several cases of tracing couguars and aggressively acting towards humans in the Whistler region.
“The COs reports they continue to monitor and assess the couguar activity and respond if necessary to ensure public security,” said the RMOW.
“Please visit Wildsafe BC for more information on the safety of Couguar.”
Couguar’s conflict reports or aggressive couguar behavior can be made on the Rapp line at 1-877-952-7277.
