Control’s Action RPG Sequel Launches in 2026

Remedy Entertainment finally presents the highly anticipated sequel to Control. The new game, called Resonant controlexpands the original with a new action-RPG setting. It is set seven years later and shifts the setting from the original’s unsettling older house to a more open Manhattan, while casting the actors in the role of Dylan Faden, brother of Control the protagonist Jesse. Its launch is planned for 2026.
Here is the basic configuration, by remedy:
After years of confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden’s former captors deploy him at the height of a supernatural crisis. Tasked with battling a mysterious cosmic entity that is altering fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his newfound powers to combat the myriad threats facing Manhattan. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities, Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he struggles to understand and contain the dangers that have spread beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear the world apart.
The sequel was initially known as Control 2but according to creative director Mikael Kasurinen, both games are designed to be played in any order, which could explain the new subtitle. During a press briefing with the press, Kasurinen described Resonant as “an unsure sequel”, saying of Remedy that “we like to do new things”.
One of the big gameplay changes for Resonant appears to be his new shapeshifting melee weapon, although it’s unclear what type of enemies you’ll use it against, as Remedy was careful not to use the word “hiss” in the announcement. Although the sequel is not billed as an open-world game, the studio describes it as its biggest title yet. “We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience,” Kasurinen explained. “It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.”
Resonant will play a significant role in turning around the studio’s fortunes next year. Although it doesn’t have a specific release date yet, it will launch on PS5, Xbox, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store).
