It was presented for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025 a few months ago – and will soon open in theaters for a few weeks before its streaming on Apple TV + in September. After almost twenty years, Denzel Washington, the double winner of the Oscars, finds the legendary Spike Lee for a new joint. This New York Thriller via impulse follows a brain in music music that shakes with an abduction. When a Titan music magnate in the Big Apple is targeted with a ransom plot, it is stuck in a moral dilemma of life or death. A reinterpretation of the Akira Kurosawa kidnapping thriller Up and downNow played in the mean streets of modern New York. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst films of 2025 – I hate he. My review Cannes tries to explain why, but it’s a really sloppy and lazy cinema that betrays the original film. Kurosawa would be pissed off.
