Dr. Cletus Iwuagwu was last seen around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the Stone Oak area of Springfield Township.
HOLLAND, Ohio — Loved ones and community members spent Sunday searching for a 71-year-old doctor who has been missing since Tuesday.
Dr. Cletus Iwuagwu was last seen around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Stone Oak area of Springfield Township. Police say he left his home on foot and never returned. He is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
Despite multiple searches by police using drones and K-9 teams, no trace of Iwuagwu was found.
On Sunday, Iwuagwu’s daughters joined dozens of volunteers from the Stone Oak community to search the area where he was last seen.
“He’s a community man. He dedicated his life to caring for others. It’s only right that we’re trying to find him and bring him home,” said Siti Dotson-Chambers, a community member who helped organize the search.
Dotson-Chambers said she contacted Iwuagwu’s daughter after seeing articles online about her disappearance. A call for volunteers on Facebook attracted strong participation.
“We don’t know in which direction he went. It looked like he didn’t drive away. Right now we don’t have a lot of answers. We just want to find him,” she said.
Iwuagwu’s eldest daughter, Kanisha Byers-Smith, urged the public to remain vigilant.
“Please keep your eyes open. If you see anything, if you hear anything, contact me, any of my sisters, my husband. We’re active on Facebook,” Byers-Smith said.
She added that although her father’s disappearance was overwhelming, the community’s support gave her hope.
“Our father is active in the community. He cares and loves his patients. He has taken care of an entire village his entire life. So to have a village show up for him means everything to us. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts,” she said.
Police are asking anyone with information on Iwuagwu’s whereabouts to contact the local Lucas County Sheriff’s Office at 419-213-4900.
