Colin Jost on Right’s right at Pope Leo XIV: “No awakened Catholics”

Saturday Night LiveThe weekend update has had its pleasure with the big titles this week, in particular the name of the new sovereign of the state of the city of the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV, the first American in the role.
“As an American Catholic, I could not be more proud, which is a sin, and now I am ashamed,” began the co-anxiety Colin Jost.
Born Robert Prevost, Jost continued that “you can say that he is on the south side [of Chicago] Because he raised his hand ”, which aroused a mixture of laughter and hesitant reactions from the public.
“This choice was a welcome surprise for me because when I heard that the pope was a super religious guy from Chicago in a funny dress, I feared that it was Kanye,” he said, referring to the rapper’s recent affinity for white supremacist ideologies.
Addressing right -wing anger and the affirmations that the new choice is too progressive, Jost joked: “I also like that the conservatives already complain that this Pope is too awake. How much can a 69-year-old man be awakened from Chicago? The reality is that there are no awakened Catholics.
Some other strengths:
Make a crack at Fox News host of Jeanine Pirro as an interim lawyer for Washington, DC, the co-host of Michale Che said that she “celebrated with a bottle of wine every day in the last 50 years”.
Discussing the initiate relationships that President Donald Trump is trying to “create tensions” between potential successors Marco Rubio and vice-president JD Vance, Jost joked that it was “especially by pointing them and saying Kiss”.
While the price 100% offered by Trump on the films made outside the United States would devastate the film industry, Che maintained that it was “no problem for me because all the films I watch were filmed in a Florida condo on a leather sofa.”
On the desire of Potus to reopen Alcatraz because he represents something “horrible, beautiful and strong and miserable and weak”, Che joked that these words are “also his nicknames for his five children”.
Although he said that Catholics “loved” the image of the Pope generated by Trump, Che was doubted “that anyone in the Catholic Church would be in something so juvenile”, the public taking a moment to realize the double business.
Also to update the weekend: Marcello Hernandez’s reprisals of his enthusiastic but ill-informed cinema guy, “A Guy who has just entered a spider” not discussing Trump and Dianne prices, the mother who has only read on Facebook “by Heidi Gardner.
