Pittsburgh: Cold today, snow/rain and impact day tomorrow
Snow begins late this evening and will change to rain by mid-morning Sunday.
GAME WE HAD THIS SEASON FOR PITT, BUT DEFINITELY THEY CAN HANDLE IT. MIAMI FANS, GOOD LUCK. IT’S GOING TO BE COLD ON THE NORTH SHORE. SIMILAR STORY FOR STEELERS AND BILLS TOMORROW TOO. IT WILL STAY DRY HERE ON YOUR SATURDAY. But as we fast forward to your Sunday that we’ve been talking about for a few days now, it’s a day of impact. THERE’S ALSO AN IMPACT DAY FOR TUESDAY, AS WE GET TWO DOSES OF WINTER WEATHER. BUT TODAY THINGS ARE CALMING DOWN WITH THIS LAKE EFFECT IN PLACE. Moving forward, we’re also pushing a lot of clouds, some of those clearings starting to get closer to the highway and certainly the city of Pittsburgh and the skies are a little more open, closer to Washington and Morgantown right now. But we’ll sneak in that sunshine as we get closer to kickoff between Pitt and Miami today. COLD AT NOON WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY AROUND THE FREEZE MARK, YOU START NOTICE A FEW ADDITIONAL CLOUDS FILTERING INTO THE FOURTH QUARTER AS TEMPERATURES RISE TO THE MID 30S. SO COLD TODAY AS THE FIRST SUN WILL GIVE WAY MORE CLOUDS. WE’RE GOING TO KEEP THE SNOW AWAY UNTIL NIGHT, BUT LATER THIS EVENING YOU MAY SEE SOME OF THESE FLURRIES DANCING AROUND. TOMORROW WE’RE GOING TO AN IMPACT DAY. IT’S SNOW TO START. WE WILL SEE A FEW RAIN SHOWERS UNTIL NOON. THEN IT GETS BLUSTERY As we get closer to the Steelers and Bills. GAME TIME AND KICK-OFF AT 4:25 AM SUNDAY. STILL Plenty of COLD AIR TO WELCOM US AS WE ARE ENTRY INTO THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. STARTING AGAIN ON MONDAY, ANOTHER IMPACT DAY ON TUESDAY AS WE MAY SEE SOME OF THIS SNOW STARTING TO STICK. THE FLAKES WILL NOT REALLY START UNTIL MUCH LATER THIS EVENING. We’re talking about eight hours, or even nine hours. AND WHAT SNOW STICKS. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A LOT. MAYBE CLOSER TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW ALONG I-80. MEANWHILE, AS WE HEAD SOUTH TOWARDS THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, MAYBE ON AVERAGE ABOUT HALF AN INCH, BUT QUICKLY ENOUGH THAT THE SNOW WILL TURN INTO A SLUTTLE OR BE COMPLETELY WASHED AGAIN, WE ALSO INTRODUCE RISKS OF RAIN FOR YOUR SUNDAY. SO HERE’S FUTURECAST NINE 930. YOU’RE SEEING SOME OF THESE SCATTERED FLAKES STARTING TO APPEAR IN PLACES LIKE LAWRENCE, BEAVER, ALLEGHENY, BUTLER, COUNTIES TOO. EVEN STARTING TO SPREAD ALONG THE 422 CORRIDOR TOWARDS KITTANNING AND EVEN TOWARDS I-80 IN CLARION TOO. SOME OF THE WORST SNOWFALLS. Well, you’re sleeping, I’m talking from after midnight until I wake up tomorrow. These temperatures are right around freezing. SO AGAIN, THIS SNOW WILL TRY TO STICK, ESPECIALLY THE FURTHER NORTH YOU ARE TOWARDS I-80. BUT Again, this snow was short-lived as of, say, 10 a.m. tomorrow temperatures will be warm enough, close to 40 degrees, that we will start introducing those raindrops. THEY WILL BE SHORT-LIVED TO CROSS WEST PA AROUND 1:00 P.M. THE BACK EDGE SHOULD CLEAR THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BUT IN THE AFTERNOON. It’s going to get windy and we’ll get you ready for kickoff between the Steelers and Bills. NOW IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A LITTLE SNOW, WE’LL GET MORE AS WE QUICKLY HAVE UNTIL TUESDAY WITH OUR NEXT IMPACT STORM SYSTEM PASSING TO OUR SOUTH. So we’re going to be on the cold side. WE HAVE A CHANCE OF SNOW FOR THE MOST, BUT WE COULD SEE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW ANYWHERE. BUT WE WILL CONTINUE TO REFINE THIS accumulation forecast once we get through tomorrow’s system. THE REST OF YOUR 4 DAYS PLUS 4 MORE WILL MAKE UP COLD AIR DURING THESE EARLY DECEMBER DAYS. ANOTHER DOSE OF SNOW WILL ARRIVE ON THURSDAY. IT’S A QUICK STRIKE SYSTEM, NOT EXPECTING A LOT OF ACCUMULATION FROM IT. BUT THEN WE DROP OUR TEMPERATURES TO THE TEENS WHEN YOU WAKE UP FRIDAY. THESE WINTER COATS AND ALL THE WINTER ACCESSORIES WILL BE USEFUL WHEN WE TAKE A STEP INTO THE FIRST DAY
