Cody Johnson, one of the main contenders for the next CMA prices, said that he had to cancel the remaining dates of his current tour of the arena due to a broken eardrum that requires immediate surgery.
The country’s star, who has just chosen his first CMAS appointment for the artist of the year, announced the cancellations and shared his health emergency on his social networks.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I must share the rest of the concert performance of this year will not be able to perform,” wrote Johnson. “By fighting against a serious infection of the upper respiratory and sinuses, I broke out.
He added: “Without surgery, my downtime could be months. I pray for a complete healing so that I can do well and come back to do what I like. Thank you Cojo Nation for love and support now, and always.”
He also published a video message with a bandage on his left ear, saying that he was “at the Maison de la Surgery and that it went well, as best as they would have expected”.
Johnson had six dates to go in his schedule this year, all in the arenas or in festivals: October 18 in Pittsburgh, from October 24 to 25 in Birmingham, October 31 in Lousiana’s Boots at the Bayou Festival, on November 8 in Phoenix and December 5 in Las Vegas.
His social explosion said “Please listen to an email from your ticket suppliers for more details.”
In mid-September, Johnson had canceled emissions in Columbus due to health problems. He then wrote: “I arrived at home on Monday after my shows at Nebraska feel good. Tuesday, I felt like I was going down with a soft cold. I took all the precautions I could: IV, drugs, even sweated in the sauna … Unfortunately today, I woke up without a singing voice: a severe cough, a burning chest and a throat. He then said that his team was working on the re -evolution of these programs for 2026.
There is no word yet to know if Johnson will be recovered enough to appear at CMA on November 19, where, as one of the main candidates, it is expected that he would receive an invitation to the first call to play. Johnson’s representatives could not be joined to comment.
Johnson is nominated for four CMAs, the most of all male artists. In addition to the artist of the year, he is in place for the male singer of the year, the musical event of the year and the clip of the year (the last two for his duet with Carrie Underwood, “I’m Gonna Love You”).
In addition to his AMC nominations, Johnson recently made the headlines when he was announced as one of the three headliners of the Stagecoach festival next April in California, alongside Post Malone and Lainey Wilson. The next date currently on its schedule is February 14 in Louisville.
