CNN Postpones Roy Wood Jr. Holiday Special Amid Brown and Sydney Coverage

EXCLUSIVE: As CNN continues its weekend coverage surrounding the shootings at Brown University in Rhode Island and Bondi Beach in Sydney, the news network is changing its programming.

The deadline can confirm that A CNN Special: Roy Wood Jr.’s Very Very Very Merry Christmas Special. was postponed from its original Sunday 8 p.m. timeslot amid continued media coverage.

“The special is preempted by last-minute media coverage,” a CNN spokesperson told Deadline Sunday.

The one-night holiday event was filmed in front of a live audience in Washington DC, featuring music, comedy and surprise guests. Backed by the U.S. Air Force Band, Wood Jr. leads a laugh-filled holiday lineup for all ages.

Early Sunday, a gunman opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, killing at least 15 people and injuring 40 others. The suspects are a father and his son. The 50-year-old father was shot and killed by police at the scene, while the 24-year-old son is in critical but stable condition.

On Saturday, two Brown students were killed and nine others injured at the Ivy League school in Providence, where police arrested a person of interest in his 20s.
