BOSTON – The Houston Hector Neris Astros lifter used a rhythm reau to advance a runner to third on Saturday, then had an exchange with the coach of the third base of the Red Sox, Kyle Hudson, who led to a dust between the teams.
Neris gave up double RBI of Trevor Story in the seventh round of the defeat of 7-3 from Houston. The right-hander then fell, moving from history to the third, before Carlos Narvaez bounced back to the final stop for the final.
While Neris came out of the mound, he had words with Hudson and shouted towards the Pirogue of the Red Sox, making the two teams, including the arenas, come to the field before the order was quickly restored.
When he was asked if he thought the Red Sox stole signs, Neris replied, “Perhaps. Perhaps yes, maybe no.”
“But I still wanted to focus,” continued the right -hander. “In [that] Situation, I want to do what I feel in the moment. This is the reason why I moved it to third row. “”
Neris, 36, refused to specify what he said to Hudson who made the benches empty.
“Nothing is part of the game,” he said with a smile. “Something funny. People enter [the clubhouse] Maybe hear what happened, but nothing serious. “”
The manager of Astros Joe Espada, addressing the media before Neris, had no overview of what caused the confrontation.
“I’m really going to ask Neris,” he said. “I really don’t know what words have been exchanged to be honest with you.”
Asked what caused the benches clearing and if the flight of signs was the problem, the manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, directed the questions in Neris.
Titching calls in major leagues are relayed by electronic route via Pitchcom, but a Baserunner in second can determine what Pitch arrives by looking for the grip of a launcher. A runner on the second can also relay where a recipient sets in to help a striker with the location of the height.
The Astros were disciplined by Major League Baseball after finding that the team used electronics to fly panels during their 2017 World Series race and again during the 2018 season.
Cora was Houston’s benches coach in 2017. Following the signs flight scandal, he left Boston in January 2020 in what was called a mutual decision. After serving a suspension of a season sent by the MLB, he was rehired as director of the Red Sox in November 2020.
