Claressed Shields retained her undisputed female championship of heavy goods vehicles with a unanimous commanding decision on Lani Daniels on Saturday evening at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
The judges marked the combat 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91 in favor of Shields, which improved at 17-0 (3 KB). He marked the third consecutive appearance of the main event in Detroit for the 30-year-old Flint native and double Olympic gold medalist, who remains the only boxer in the era with four-céture to become an undisputed champion in three different weight classes.
Daniels (11-3-2, 1 KB), a former heavy title holder IBF Lightweight of the IBF in New Zealand, offered little early attack and passed the opening rounds to go around the ring. Shields was forced to press the action and gradually took control with higher timing, a leg play and a variety of punch.
In the middle of the towers, the shields had closed the distance and landed fire shots and coherent combinations. Daniels began to stand in the sixth and seventh rounds, but had a hard time corresponding to the production or precision of Shields.
The last laps included a more two -way action, but Shields remained in control thanks to the selection of cleaner and sharper counters. She surpassed Daniels in each turn and neutralized the late pressure of her opponent with a disciplined defense and calculated the exchanges.
The fight capped a map of 11 lines broadcast on Dazn and attracted an announced crowd of 15,366. The two previous appearances of Shields in Little Caesars Arena also made the boxing head in a place that had not organized a major card before its victory in 2023 against Maricela Cornejo.
In the co-printing event, Tony Harrison de Detroit (30-4-1, 21 KB) returned after a 28-month layoff and marked a unanimous victory over Edward Diaz (15-7, 12 ko) despite his abandonment in the ninth round. Harrison, a former super-point champion, was fighting for the first time since his loss against Tim Tszyu in 2023.
