Another Jared Leto flop? MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Test Selection Report Shares Surprising Verdict on Actor

Earlier this week, we learned that the first test screenings of Amazon MGM’s live-action Masters of the Universe had taken place. Early rumors about the film were positive, with the reboot being described as “incredible” by one source.
Now, YouTuber Mr H Reviews has weighed in, revealing more about the film’s tone, character designs, and whether Jared Leto has bounced back from recent flops like Morbius And TRON: Ares.
As we first reported on Toonado.com, the new Masters of the Universe “bends [heavily] in comedy,” and that it is “very comical” And “very entertaining.” However, he also “lots of heart” and lots of action, with “sword choreography [that’s] fantastic.”
These comedic elements extend to He-Man’s life on Earth, the reason Prince Adam of Eternia made our planet his home described as “satisfying” (you can find out more here).
He adds, “Character designs? Very faithful to the toys. Very faithful to the toys, right down to the weapons and vehicles. It looks like a true cinematic translation of the original designs, from the costumes to the sets.”
As for Leto’s Skeletor, he would have been “great” in the role and is “Basically, I’m channeling Tim Curry… almost a cross between Frank-N-Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Darkness from Legend. His face is CGI, so I’ll reveal that, [and] Apparently it’s really good.”
There are plenty of Easter eggs, but is the movie any good? “My source really liked the film” the YouTuber shared. “Judging by everyone’s reception, so it’s important, it was received very positively. Almost everyone at the screening enjoyed it. [has the] potential to be a huge success. The audience seemed to love it. I felt like it won people over.”
While there are bound to be some creative decisions that don’t sit well with longtime fans, all signs currently point to Masters of the Universe being a victory for the long-running franchise. Whether he can find an audience remains to be seen, but there is a lot of love and nostalgia surrounding He-Man and company.
