China Open: Amanda Anisimoa holds Linda Nosková to claim the title

Amanda Anisimova, finalist of the double home, won the title of China Open Women on Sunday with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 victory against the Czech player Linda Nosková.
Anisimova, a finalist in Wimbledon and the United States Open in 2025, won the victory in Beijing despite the fact that Nosková poses an important challenge in the second set.
It was a challenge that arrived duly, because Nosková won only 12 points in an opening set of 23 minutes. Anisimva seemed to be claiming victory to continue what was a brilliant year for the American.
But Nosková, in competition in its first WTA 1000 event, retaliated admirably in the second set.
The 20 -year -old crucially broke the Anisimova service in the opening match of the second set after stating a more aggressive game.
Despite a second fragile match in which she committed consecutive double defects, Nosková took advantage of Anisimova – which struck 17 unforeseen errors in the second set – to improve the match.
But the American finally turned out to be too strong for the world number 27.
Although the two players were designed to save outstanding points at the start of the decisive whole, Nosková flocking first while Anisimova took an advance of 4-2, reducing the uncomposed mistakes that were his fall in the second.
Nosková had a last opportunity to break but could not take it because the world number 4 showed its quality in the last match. The American pulled a powerful winner back in the back to seal the victory, collapse on the ground with pleasure.
Although Anisimova had a year of escape, his season was punctuated by disappointing losses in the Wimbledon and the United States finals in Iga świątek and Aryna Sabalenka, respectively.
Anisimova was also forced to withdraw from the Korean opening last month with an ankle injury, stressing another missed opportunity, but it rebounded to ensure a happy ending in Beijing.
“It’s been several weeks for me, for sure,” said world n ° 4, according to BBC Sport.
“I feel like I have learned a lot about myself. I can take a lot of positive points and (I have done) a lot of progress … just find ways to face certain challenges and push myself in moments where I feel like I couldn’t go further.
“I have the impression that in this sense, I learned that I am stronger than I think. It’s a huge victory for me … winning the title is really incredible. I’m really happy. ”
In many ways, its course towards the victory in the final reflects the challenges that Anisimova was confronted throughout the tournament. After simple victories on Katie Boulter and Zhang Shuai, Anisimova came from a set of consecutive matches against Karolina Muchová and Jasmine Paolini.
She then had the task of facing her American compatriot Coco Gauff in the semi-finals, seeded n ° 2 and reigning champion, which she defeated in hetero sets.
According to the WTA, with its victory, Anisimova became the third American to win the title of China Open Women’s Singles, joining Serena Williams (2004 and 2013) and Gauff (2024).
The stalling of the title also means that she is the first American to win several WTA 1000 titles in a season since Williams in 2015.
For Nosková, the loss in the final is disappointing, but beating one of the best performers of this season would always be a major challenge.
“I think it’s just the fact that she comes after each point she can perhaps,” she said at her post-match press conference.
“It is definitely her powerful service with which she begins the rally. Then she continues to play as much as possible.
“Sometimes it is simply difficult to find anything, with any plan, in fact, against such fast base.
“I just had to keep my rhythm and keep my length on the balls. I have the impression that that’s why I won the second set. Obviously, in the third, it was much more as it was the first in the first. It was difficult.”
