China launches probes targeting American semiconductors before Madrid’s commercial discussions

Taipei, Taiwan – China launched two probes targeting the American semiconductor sector on Saturday before talks between the two nations in Spain this week on trade, national security and the property of the Tiktok social media platform.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry has announced an anti-dumping survey on certain analogy ICs imported from the United States.

The ministry announced separately an anti-discrimination survey on American measures against the Chinese flea sector.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to meet the Chinese Deputy Prime Minister, He Lifeng in Madrid between Sunday and Wednesday, the office said.

American measures such as export limits and prices “constitute the confinement and abolition of the development of high-tech industries by China” such as advanced computer flea and artificial intelligence, said a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Sounds advertisements follow the United States on Friday, adding 23 Chinese companies to a “list of entities” of companies that will face restrictions for allegedly acted against US national security and foreign policy interests. “We just need to manage with certain strategic industries, be it rare earths, semiconductors, drugs and we talked about what we could do together to balance ourselves in the relationship,” said Bessent at the time.

US President Donald Trump and former President Joe Biden have placed borders on China access to advanced semiconductors, including restrictions on the sale of Tamias manufacturing equipment in the country. While Washington quotes national security problems, China maintains that borders are part of an American strategy to contain its growth.
