Chiefs react to Patrick Mahomes news Friday
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are in a bye week, giving him and the entire team a chance to recharge. This comes at a crucial time, as the Chiefs fell to 5-4 with a 28-21 Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes had one of his worst games of his career, completing 15 of 34 passes for 250 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception and a 57.2 passer rating. Kansas City sits in third place in the AFC West and is out of the playoffs.

However, just because the Chiefs aren’t playing doesn’t mean the quarterback won’t be surrounded by football. On Friday, Mahomes was announced as a guest on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”
“College GameDay” moves to Lubbock, Texas, for a Big 12 showdown between the No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) and the No. 7 BYU Cougars (8-0, 5-0). Each team is aiming for a conference title and a trip to the College Football Playoff.
That means Mahomes is returning to his alma mater. He spent three seasons with the Red Raiders before being selected 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by Kansas City.

The announcement even sparked a reaction from the Chiefs, who, in response to the “College GameDay” Instagram post, commented three clock emojis.

This clock emoji has become somewhat of a signature for the six-time Pro Bowler. He recently used it to react to the Chiefs’ final score on Oct. 12 after beating the Detroit Lions in Week 6.
Mahomes is undoubtedly hoping for a Texas Tech win, with ESPN BET placing the Red Raiders as 10.5-point favorites. Kickoff is noon ET, broadcast on ABC.

Whether his alma mater wins or loses, Mahomes’ next NFL challenge comes against the Denver Broncos on November 16.
