Chicago (WLS) – A tornado watch was published Wednesday for some parts of the Chicago region.

The watch is in force for the counties of Grundy, Kankakee, Will and Livingston in the counties of Illinois and Jasper, Lake, Newton and carry in Indiana until 7 p.m.

There is a serious thunderstorm warning in force for the counties of Jasper, Newton, Laporte and Starke in Indiana until 2:30 p.m.

An Accuweather alert is in effect on Wednesday for the chances of strong storms in the forecasts.

Meteorologist Tracy Butler says that strong storms could move in early afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are then possible throughout the afternoon. Butler says the main threats are the strong winds and hail.

The Storm Prediction Center presents a large part of the zone at a level 2 risk of serious storms, with certain areas in the northwest part of the area under a risk of level 1 and the northwest of Indiana and certain suburban areas of southern south under a risk of level 3.

Butler says that temperatures will be slightly cooler than Tuesday, but that humidity remains high.

The storms cause delays of arrival of almost two hours at O’Hare airport.

The National Weather Service issued flood surveillance for Cook, Dupage, Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, the Hall and Will Counties until 8 p.m.
