Cheteshwar Pujara refuses to guide Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli

The legendary Indian cricket player Cheteshwar Pujara clearly indicated that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would not need external advice, because they are sufficiently experienced to do what is expected of them and well aware of how to stay in shape.

Since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from the two other formats of the game, there have been immense doubts about the two veterans who follow their career ODI, while India is preparing for the next ODI World Cup in 2027.

The two veterans will be over 40 and 39 years old by the next World Cup, while there is a very limited number of day international games in the future Tours in India for the next international calendar.

Cheteshwar Pujara supports Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for one day version

Chetehwar Pujara himself announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket this month, and although he supported the two great Indians and his former teammates as being sufficiently experienced to understand what is expected of them, he feels that they do not need advice.

“I do not need to give advice because they are some of the best players in white ball cricket. Even if they only play one format, they are sufficiently experienced to know what is expected of them,” said Pujara during the Indian Express Idea Exchange.

“These are so talented players. Look at the records that Virat and Rohit also have. They also know when the right time is for them to call this. They understand the level of engagement required, and if they are sufficiently in good shape, they can continue to play international cricket for a long time,” he added.

Chetehwar Pujara expresses the support of the BCCI’s mandate on domestic participation

Pujara has also expressed its support for the BCCI’s decision to make national participation a mandate for international players.

He said: “It is important for players to play domestic cricket. This increases the competition standard. When the best players participate, it brings a lot of motivation and young domestic players can learn a lot.”

“At the same time, the workload must be managed. If you are a multi-format player, you cannot participate in each game, but you have to identify if there is a series of upcoming tests.”

“For this preparation alone, if someone manages to play one or two games, it would be ideal. As for the drummers, it should play as many domestic games as possible,” added Chetehwar Pujara.

Chetehwar Pujara excludes Bumrah from national games, citing workload problems

Although supporting the complaint made by the BCCI, the former striker excluded veteran quisters like Jasprit Bumrah of the usual domestic version.

“It could be slightly different for quisors. Someone like Jasprit Bumrah must manage their workload and cannot play domestic cricket.”

“But if there is a quick young launcher who tries to develop his skills in red ball cricket, he should play as many games as possible. Team management staff and NCA coaches should sit together and understand a roadmap for each player,” said Pujara.
