Sherrie Damorer: How she gained weight

Sherrie Damorer, 58 years old, started her weight loss journey as a by-product to want to reduce costs and save money-a happy accident that brought her from a size 26W to a size 14. What started her? Sherrie has experienced a change in her employment income and location, allowing her to work closer to us. Instead of spending money on transportation, she decided to go to work daily. What she didn’t know was that it would be the start of a brand new trip.

While Sherrie would describe herself as “overweight” growing up, she never felt moved to modify her lifestyle. She had been warned by doctors repeatedly of potential impacts that excess weight can have on her health and her body, but will write it as something on which she would finally work. In the years that followed,
Sherrie became a caregiver for her deceased mother and could see the bad health habits led to the loss of mobility and independence. This planted a seed in the Sherrie psyche.

With her weight finally threatening her health and her overall independence, she knew that she had to kick at full speed.
Finally, it was time to make changes and live as valid as possible as long as possible. Sherrie used this additional fuel and continued her walks at work. Slowly, she noticed that her weight was changing as a by-product and used it as the perfect motivation to continue. »»
At the start of her low -budget walks to work, Sherrie drew the attention of a neighbor who started joining her for walks. Sherrie was happy to be an example for others and delighted the tradition of morning walks. “My neighbor, who worked in the same building as me, has become a partner of responsibility. She saw me walking, and finally, we come together to take neighborhood walks before work and the weekend. ”
While walks continued, goals increased and the new goal has become 10,000 steps a day. The pair made walks that extended further until they extended in the New York districts and bridges.
Sherrie advice, tips and motivation movements
“I’m not perfect, but I do my best.” To support her weight loss, Sherrie has become more attentive to what she ate and brought small changes where she could. These small changes include control of portions and the exchange of certain foods for healthier or little calories alternatives. For example, Sherrie says that she loves coffee but she is more vigilant about the amount of creamers she uses, because she understands how sugar can play a role in weight loss / gain.
The preparation of meals also helped Sherrie to stay on the right track with her portions and the food she ate. Having homemade meals meant that she did not have to order to take away, which can be filled with many transformed ingredients that we do not need.
Regarding the motivation, Sherrie says that she used the traction of her neighbors, members of the church, colleagues, friends and fitness groups to advance her. “I am known as The Walking Lady,” she points out. In addition, many members who knew that Sherrie was being loss of weight would generously offer their new clothes or slightly used in sizes that line up with its objectives.
She also uses her doctor’s appointments as a checkpoint for her progress because she knows that they will check blood pressure, blood sugar and other health markers.
Without children, Sherriee says: “I want to be able to live independently as long as possible.” While Sherrie is also categorical about the fact that this trip never concerned the scale, it has the general objective of maintaining a weight less than 200 pounds.

Sherrie intends to continue using walking to maintain her overall well-being and weight loss and achieve her daily 10 km goal. If necessary, she incorporates training sessions at the gymnasium and at home in her routine. She is one of the many health and well-being ambassadors in her work and encourages her orders to move away from their office for short walks as often as possible throughout the day. She is also a member of the Obesity Action Coalition, which empowers and encourages people living with obesity in their better health travel.
It was never the scale; It was always the quality of life. I think I must be an active participant in my healing.
When asked if she had long -term goals, she proudly said: “I want to be able to take care of myself and continue to be an example.
