Villarreal signed defender Renato Veiga de Chelsea on a seven -year contract for a club record that could reach 26 million pounds sterling.
Portugal International Veiga, 22, joined the Basel Blues for 12 million pounds Sterling after the arrival of Manager Enzo Maresca last July, starting and six substitutes in the Premier League before joining Juventus on loan in January.

Chelsea has now won more than 251 million pounds sterling in the sale of 11 players during the summer transfer window, having spent around 277 million sterling pounds for nine newcomers.
Their defensive signatures included the rear left Jorrel Hato for an £ 35.5 million £ 35.5 million in Ajax, central defender Mamadou Sarr of the Partner Club Strasbourg for 12 million pounds Sterling and the Dario Essugo midfielder for 18.5 million pounds Sterling by Sporting.

Son of the former Cap-Verde International Nelson Veiga, Renato was a sports player from the CP Academy and joined Augsburg on loan in 2023, making 13 Bundesliga appearances before joining Basel, where he made 26 appearances in all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign.
He was still present throughout the group phase of the Triumhant Chelsea Conference League campaign last season and started 12 of the 14 games from Juventus for which he was available in Serie A.
High for Portugal at the level of young people, he won the first of his five senior ceilings against Poland in the League of Nations in October 2024 and played for 46 minutes of his country’s victory over Spain in the League of Nations in June.
