By publishing on his official account on X, Romano said: “Chelsea exchanged documents with Ipswich Town tonight confirming 30 million pounds sterling for Liam Delap. Medical reserved on Monday.”
What can Liam Delap bring to Chelsea?
Delap is a signature for the future, and it is not clear if he will immediately replace Nicolas Jackson as the first choice of Enzo Maresca in advance.
However, the 22 -year -old has impressed a lot in the Premier League this season, despite the struggle to play for an otherwise weak Ipswich team.
Delap finished with 12 goals and two assists in the league – not spectacular figures, but enough to show that he could improve with better players around him.
Blessed with the quality on the ball, Delap also cuts and imposing a silhouette, and CFC should benefit from its physical presence in the box.
Chelsea continues to focus on transfers for young people
As much as Delap looks like a great perspective for the future, there will surely still be fans of Chelsea who cry for more proven players.
The giants of western London have invested a lot in young talents for their long-term project, but the Maresca team may lack a little balance.
One or two more experienced players could be ideal to help the youngest members of the team and give Chelsea a better chance to really compete with the title of Premier League and other major honors.
