Check out Vin Diesel’s ‘The Witcher’ replacement before it leaves streaming for free

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Vin Diesel most underrated fantasy release. The Last Witch Hunterthe 2015 supernatural action film based on a series of novels by Blaise Ramsaywill leave Tubi on December 1stso fans of “nerdy Vin Diesel” only have a few weeks to catch it for free. Directed by Breck Eisner (The fools) and featuring Rose Leslie, Elie BoisAnd Michael Cainethe film mixes spellcasting and swordplay with a surprisingly detailed fantasy world.

When The Witcher (based on Andrzej Sapkowskiseries of novels debuted on Netflix, That of Henry Cavill The stoicism of monster hunting immediately drew comparisons to Diesel’s Kaulder – an immortal witch-slayer cursed to live forever. Both characters share the same deep-voiced, blade-wielding, emotionally battered archetype, although Diesel’s version comes with a bit more fire and CGI.

The Last Witch Hunter opens 800 years ago, with Kaulder (Diesel) killing the Witch Queen (Julie Engelbrecht) and be cursed with immortality in return. Centuries later, he is the enforcer of the Ax and Cross, a secret order that controls magic in the modern world. When his mentor Dolan 36 (Caine) is attacked, Kaulder discovers that the Witch Queen is planning his resurrection.

The film takes some wild swings, including a flashback that seems straight out of Constantine – and plays like John Wick with grimoires. But behind the overloaded plot lies something really interesting: Diesel’s obsession with mythology, magic, and Dungeons & Dragons. This is by far his cheesiest role, and that’s exactly what makes him endearing. And after years of silence, The Last Witch Hunter 2 – now officially titled The Lion’s Oath – finally happens. Diesel shared the first photos from filming on Instagram last month, confirming that Lionsgate was moving forward with the long-rumored sequel and that it’s ready for a Release 2026.

Is “The Last Witch Hunter” good?

Huh, that’s bold at least? Collider’s review of the film said it “needed more magic” and that Diesel needed to focus less on being a hard man:

“I want to see a movie where Vin Diesel casts spells on a wizard because it makes it seem like Diesel is honestly playing to his own interests rather than just playing a tough guy role. Diesel, the tireless self-promoter, will no doubt want more. Witch Hunter movies, and this one allows for more adventure, but it lacks the right mix for everything it wants to do. There’s some magic in there, but not enough to make us ask for more of Kaulder. »
