Charlie Kirk gave her life for freedom of expression and America

Charlie Kirk “was murdered by doing what he liked and what he did so well: he exercised his right to freedom of expression and encouraged civil dialogue among all those who participate,” writes Joel Pollak, Chief Editor of Breitbart, in a New York Post OP-ED commemorating the founder killed of Turnout Point USA.

Pollak notes that the “first foray into political comments” of Kirk began at Breitbart News in 2012, when the pupil of the Kirk Higher School contacted this website to ask for help to defend the conservative principles of his school.

“In the spirit of citizen journalism, on which Breitbart was founded, we encouraged this young high school to write his thoughts and submit them for publication,” writes Pollak, adding:

Charlie never looked back. He built his career in this way: with words and with courage.

It took an incredible bravery and mental sharpness to debate people with opposite opinions on university campuses, taking all the arrivals and all the questions.

His mind was clear and not corrupted by what our universities have become. He understood that civil speech was the path, which fueled his ability to debate anyone, anywhere.

Kirk, Pollak writes: “wanted his opponents to be as free as he – even when they were hateful and bad.”
