CFB fans react as Hugh Freeze seeks public support from Auburn AD John Cohen amid job fight

College football fans reacted to Auburn coach Hugh Freeze’s press conference Monday where he said he wanted to get a vote of confidence from the university’s athletic director John Cohen.
In a statement, Freeze admitted he hadn’t spoken to Cohen recently, but noted a show of support from the athletic official would be a big boost to his tenure as Tigers coach despite going 3-4 (0-4 SEC) this season and 14-18 overall.

Fans shared their thoughts on the coach’s statement on Instagram, with one user feeling the heavy burden Freeze is currently carrying.
“Sad to see,” one college football fan wrote.

One Auburn fan wanted to throw everything out of his system after learning of Freeze’s comments during the press conference.
“As an Auburn fan, I want to throw up,” the fan said.

One college football fan suggested that Cohen should have fired him over the weekend because Freeze had put him in a difficult situation with his plea.

Another user thought the plea was funny considering the situation he finds himself in.

Other fans wanted Freeze to receive his release papers immediately.

It’s been a promising season for Auburn, picking up wins over Baylor (38-24), Ball State (42-3) and South Alabama (31-15) in the first three weeks. However, the Tigers rushed south after losing four straight games to SEC foes Oklahoma (24-17), Texas A&M (16-10), Georgia (20-10) and Missouri (23-17).
They have a chance to break the slump in Week 9 when they visit Arkansas (2-5, 0-3 in SEC) on October 25 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Auburn HC Hugh Freeze remains optimistic about team’s turnaround despite tough stretch
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze expressed optimism that the team can step up and win all remaining games to make them bowl eligible.
He believes his current generation of players fit the team’s culture despite four consecutive defeats. The veteran coach stressed that he would achieve the results he wanted in the shortest possible time.
Freeze will count on quarterback Jackson Arnold to turn things around in the final five games of Auburn’s 2025 regular season. He completed 63.5% of his passes and had 1,190 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
Arnold’s ground game is also excellent, racking up 261 yards with seven touchdowns. Jeremiah Cobb was Auburn’s leading rusher with 564 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Receivers Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton were the quarterback’s primary targets and produced brilliantly. They have 724 receiving yards with four scores.
Besides Arkansas, the Tigers will meet Kentucky (Nov. 1), No. 10 Vanderbilt (Nov. 7), Mercer (Nov. 22) and No. 4 Alabama (Nov. 28) on their regular-season schedule.
