The comedy drama with Will Arnett and Laura Dern will have its world premiere on October 10 at the New York Film Festival. It acts as the closing film of this year of the 63rd Nyff, which takes place from September 26 to October. 13
Written by Cooper, Arnett and Mark Chappell, “Is this thing on?” is the story of a couple who crosses his wedding in ruins. Arnett embodies Alex Novak, a father of two children who, after having separated from his wife Tess (Dern), decides to pursue a career in the stand-up comedy in the West Village of Manhattan, the Maison de la Comédie Cellar and other renowned sites. The script is based on the true story of the British actor John Bishop.
The support cast includes New York Stands from New York Radcliffe, Reggie Conquest and Jordan Jensen, as well as Andra Day, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, Sean Hayes, Peyton Manning and Amy Sedaris.
