Cason R. “Dick” Whitehurst He was born August 1, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Richard Cason and Rosemary (Gardner) Whitehurst.

Dick’s family moved to Wonewoc when he was a child and he lived in and around Reedsburg most of his life. On October 18, 1969, Dick married Joan R. Jensen. This marriage was blessed with three children, Patrick, Tressa and Cason (Casey).

He was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Ev. Reedsburg Lutheran Church.

Dick was an outgoing person who was often described as the life of the party and became an instant friend to everyone who met him. His social calendar revolved around his family. He was a wonderful husband; a devoted father and loved his 11 grandchildren. He rarely missed any of their events. He was also an avid golfer and sports fan. Dick loved life and lived it with joy and gratitude.

We mourn his passing as we will miss him so much, but we will cherish all the good memories. We rejoice that he is in a better place, free from pain and suffering, in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan; children: Patrick (Anna Peyton) Whitehurst of Minturn, CO, Tressa (Matthew) Bauer of Reedsburg, Cason “Casey” (Gretchen) Whitehurst of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren: Elijah (Peyton) Bauer, Lydia Bauer, Isaiah Bauer, Isabel Bauer, Treyton Whitehurst, Clara Bauer, Cooper Whitehurst, Adelind Whitehurst, Evelyn Bauer, Emmaline Whitehurst and Savanna Whitehurst; brother, Donald (Rosanna Armson) Whitehurst of Minneapolis; sister, Alice (Gary) Antonetti of Evansville; several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Dick Whitehurst will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Ev. Reedsburg Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Private family burial will be in Resting Green Cemetery, Ironton.

Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
