Carl Weathers had a “massive part” in “Happy Gilmore 2” before death

After the death of Carl Weathers at 76 last year, Happy Gilmore 2 had to undergo a rewriting to account for his absence.

Before the long -awaited suite, which will be presented on July 25 on Netflix, Adam Sandler noted that it was planned to ensure that the actor resumes his role as a golf coach and mentor of Happy Chubbs Peterson of the original sports comedy of 1996.

“We had a painful change. Carl Weathers had a massive part,” he said to Collider. “I would speak to Carl, and we were excited, then Carl died. We had to rewrite a lot, and even what the story was. We have made a lot of beautiful references to the way Great Chubbs was in the film. It was the biggest change. ”

Sporting a wooden prosthesis after an alligator took his hand, Chubbs fell by death to his death in the original film because of Happy’s shock presenting the head of the reptile in thanks for helping to improve his short game.

“In the first version we found, he had a son,” noted Sandler from the suite. “He came back to me a lot in my dreams, and he had a son who was angry with happy to have caused Dad’s death.”
