Cardinals Ryan Helsley Replacement already making waves in a new role

The Cardinals of St. Louis have chosen to sell on the deadline for trade, practically waving the white flag this season. Before the deadline, cardinals would have bought any player on their list with a little commercial value, but have chosen to make big surprising movements.

Instead, St. Louis discharged three readers expired from his enclosure in an intelligent decision that prepares the team for the future. Ryan Helsley was exchanged in New York dishes for a packet of prospects titled by Jesus Baez. Steven Matz was exchanged at the Boston Red Sox in an agreement for one for prospect Blaze Jordan. Phil Maton was treated at the Texas Rangers in a drummer of licensed dates which won the cardinals even more prospects.

But this trio of movements emptied the enclosure of the lifts in Saint-Louis, which means that the cardinals were going to need certain players to descend the section. Replacing Helsley, because the closest to the team has become an absolute priority for Saint-Louis, and this could already have done so.

Joel Reuter by Bleacher Report recently highlighted the new cardinals closer to Jojo Romero after his transition to the role of higher lever in Saint-Louis.

“Romero took the reins of the ninth round after Ryan Helsley and Phil Maton were both exchanged on the deadline, and he went 3 to 3 on the chances of safeguard in August,” wrote Romero. “It has been solid at the ROC in a configuration role since he came from the phillies in the agreement which sent Edmundo Sosa in the other direction on the deadline of 2022.”

We do not know if Romero will be closest to cardinals, but it does not seem that this will be the case. Saint-Louis will probably want to turn to a younger option which is currently in the agricultural system, although Romero makes it quite difficult to move it from the role.

The SouthPaw is three for three on safeguard opportunities since it gave the role. Most of them are dominant after prospering in the configuration role for a few years.

For the moment, it seems that the easy answer for cardinals would be to use Romero, but it would not be surprising to see them turn to a prospect lift as a potential option. This would come back Romero in its role of natural configuration. Anyway, the left-hander looks solid for Saint-Louis at the moment.
