Can a low histamine diet relieve chronic hives?

It is understandable to want a solution for symptoms, especially if you are not delighted with the idea of long -term use of antihistamine drugs. “But there is simply not much data on a low histamine diet helping with hives,” said Nanda.
Before revising your diet, it is preferable to speak to a health care provider – ideally, a certified allergies and immunology specialist – other possible causes of symptoms, he adds. A primary care doctor, a registered dietitian or another trusted health care provider may also be able to help you. “Self-treatment when you don’t know what’s going on can be dangerous,” says Anderson-Haynes.
An allergist will probably be best suited to examine the drugs available for the CSU, discuss all the concerns you have about them and answer all specific questions to the symptoms you feel as well as your diet, Nanda explains.
It may not seem that there are a lot of risks to reduce eggs and tomatoes, for example, but over time, stick to a low mood diet and cut large categories of food can make you miss crucial nutrients. “You can even have malnutrition if you do not equip it properly,” explains Anderson-Haynes.
“I don’t think it’s a diet you should live forever,” she adds. Ideally, “we want to discover the reason why you have these reactions.”
A better idea: note in a food journal what you eat, how your body reacts and if the hives change when you have cut out certain foods with histamine, explains Anderson-Haynes. This can help you and your care providers, notice models and possibly discover what triggers the hives.
