Camp Nou will not be ready for Gamper Trophy Clash next month

Barcelona confirmed this afternoon that the renovated camp will not be ready in time for the confrontation of the Joan Gamper trophy with the Como on August 10.
The work on the Barça stadium began in June 2023 and the hope was that it would be finalized and celebrated during the collection of traditional curtains before the new Liga season.
However, the club announced today that construction work was still underway and that many security insurances could not be provided.
Barça had hoped to stage a progressive return by opening Tier by Tier, but that was not possible.
A club press release said: “Due to the size of the work carried out, it was impossible to reach all the requirements required by the regulations that regulate the first occupation license, despite the club’s desire to launch the Spotify Camp Nou by the sectors.”
The club is now facing a race against time to prepare the stadium for the first liga match of the season against Valencia on September 13/14.
The press release added: “The club will work hand in hand with the municipal council of Barcelona and the organizations concerned in order to be able to advance in the various requirements and will communicate to the members of FC Barcelona any new information concerning the return date.”
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club has not excluded returning to the city’s Olympic stadium to play matches if Camp Nou is not ready.
The place welcomed Barça matches during the renovations.
