ALIEN icon Sigourney Weaver reveals she’s in talks to reprise role of Ripley

We could well see Sigourney Weaver return to Stranger franchise after all.
The recent rumor that the next Stranger The film could bring Weaver back to play an aged Ellen Ripley. Extraterrestrial: Romulus Director Fede Álvarez quickly debunked the report as “fun gossip.”
Ripley might not appear in the Romulus sequel, but it appears there is some truth to the rumor that the actress is planning to revisit her most famous role.
Weaver had the following to say during an appearance at New York Comic-Con this weekend.
“[‘Alien’ producer] Walter Hill is a very good friend of mine, and he wrote 50 pages about Ripley’s current situation, and they’re pretty extraordinary. Weaver on stage during a conversation moderated by Josh Horowitz. “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I had a meeting with Fox or Disney… I never felt the need [to reprise the role]. I always told myself, “Let her rest, let her recover.” » What Walter wrote rings very true to me, especially about society imprisoning someone who tried to help humanity, but she’s a problem to them, so she’s sort of ostracized. I think it’s a very solid first 50 pages. I’m thinking of working with Walter to see what the rest of the story would be.
“It would not be a question of bypassing ventilation shafts,” she added. “It would be a very different type of Alien with a very good storyline. Scary.”
So if Weaver decides to return as Ripley, it looks like she’ll play the character without using any aging technology. If so, we assume that the events of David Fincher Alien 3 – who killed Ripley – and Extraterrestrial: Resurrection – which brought her back as a clone – will be ignored, and the story will pick up after the events of James Cameron. Extraterrestrials.
“But I love what he did with the character,” » Weaver continued. “It really captures her strength and her anger and her humor, and it’s very difficult to write. It’s surprisingly difficult to write Ripley. Everyone makes you sound like a gym teacher. ‘All right, people, let’s do business!’ So Walter has it.
District 9 director Neill Blomkamp attempted to obtain a Stranger film starring Weaver and Michael Biehn (Hicks) took off a few years ago, but the project ended up being scrapped.
