California’s great America could close after 2027 season – East Bay Times

Managers of six flags increased the possibility of closing the Great America in California after the 2027 season while the countdown in extinction continues to check the amusement park of the Bay region.
Six Flags financial director Brian Witherow said in a recent investor meeting that California’s great America in Santa Clara would close after the 2027 season if the company did not extend the park lease.
“Unless we decide to extend and exercise one of our options to extend this lease, this park last year without this extension would be after the season of 27,” said Witherow on the day of investors of six flags 2025.

In this scenario, Great America would close at the end of October 2027 after the Halloween season.
The former parent company of Great America, Cedar Fair, merged with six flags in 2024 in an agreement of $ 8 billion which combined the two companies in a juggernaut from the North American amusement park.
The 112 acres of land under Great America in California were sold in 2022 for around $ 310 million in Prologis, a warehouse and supply chain logistics company.
Cedar Fair, then the parent company of Great America, agreed to rent the land of the Prologis amusement park for 6 to 11 years and announced its intention to close the park at the end of the length of the lease.
The six -year rental contract was initially scheduled for June 30, 2028 with an option to extend the terms of additional five years to 2033.
The rental contract gave Prologis the right to terminate the lease early with a two -year notice.
