Cal asrill seeks to prevent the rocky from sweeping the marlins

Cal Esterill spent 2024 to help Colorado Rockies win matches. On Wednesday, he tried to prevent them from sweeping away their first 2025 series when the Miami Marlins welcome Rockies in the final of their three -game series.
Asrill (3-5, 5.84 ERA) faces its former team in the final of the series, while the Gaucher of Colorado, Kyle Freeland (0-8, 5.72), will seek its first victory.
The Rockies won the first two games in the series, including a 3-2 triumph on Tuesday. They had lost 22 consecutive series last September before the last victory.
Etrill was one of the most reliable starters for the Rockies last season, making 29 departures and 8-11 with an MPM of 4.98. He led the club in victories during his only season in Colorado. It was a solid part of Miami’s rotation this year, despite only three victories.
The 30 -year -old veteran launched an immaculate round (three stick withdraws from nine throws) against the rays of Tampa Bay on May 18 – the only one in the majors this season.
Asrill was a hard loser in his last outing against the Giants of San Francisco despite a seven summit in the season. He authorized two points at eight strokes and a five-round walk during a 2-0 defeat on Friday.
“He did a very good job to navigate,” said Miami manager Clayton McCullough. “He was able to obtain stick withdrawals, especially when he needed them, and really made large grounds when it counted, when he needed to finish the guys. The courageous effort of him.”
In seven career outings (four departures) against the Rockies, Esterill is 1-2 with an MPM of 5.84.
He will face a Colorado team, enjoying his second sequence of victories of the season. The rocks are on the pace to establish the worst record of the modern era, but are on a rare lance this year. They won their first serial victory of the season despite not having two key players available.
Closer to Zach Agnos was placed on the mourning list on Tuesday, and the Ezequiel Tovar stop stop was out of alignment due to left oblique pain. Tovar, who left Monday’s match with the injury, will not play on Wednesday and Colorado left on Thursday, giving him a chance to rest prolonged when he tries to avoid a second pass on the list of injured this year.
“He did it after his second At -Bat – it started Petit and started to progress,” said the acting manager of Rockies, Warren Schaeffer. “(The precaution) was it for me (Monday) night – getting it out of the game. As I understand, the obliques are serious things.”
Freeland went without victory in his last 15 departures and has not recorded a victory since September 8, 2024, in Milwaukee. He headed the team with five quality departures in 2025, but did not get any support when he launched well.
His last outing was against the dishes, a 4-2 defeat in New York on Friday. Freeland has authorized three points on seven strokes and no six -round walking while removing four. He served a top of the season two circuits.
Freeland succeeded in his seven career appearances (five departures) against the Marlins, going 3-0 with an MPM of 3.48.
