Caitlin Clark in return for fever; Indiana tinkered with an out -of -ball role

The Golden State goalkeeper Valkyries Tiffany Hayes (15) and the Indiana Caitlin Clark fever (22) were fighting for the ball on Wednesday July 9, 2025, during a match between Indiana fever and the Golden State Valkyries in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The All-Star Caitlin Clark fever shared its leader and failed to find its range on Wednesday in its first match with Indiana since June 24.

Clark was 4 out of 12 on the field with four reversals in the defeat of Indiana against Golden State, who made a fever at 9-10 with four games before the stars break.

“It was good to be there,” said Clark after having recorded a 25-minute season. “The offensive – for us, it starts with the defense. We had trouble. … Overall, they just played with more energy and effort. No one has played well today.

“I felt pretty good. I’m just trying to put my legs under me and get my wind.”

Clark collected 10 points on Wednesday, playing largely without the ball according to the plan of the Indiana Stephanie White coach. She started Sydney Colson, who took over to the leader while Clark recovered from his second injury to the leg of the season. She also missed three weeks with a tense quad.

“I like the ability to have two main (ball managers) on the ground,” said White. “Being able to give the opponent of different looks. Frankly, for (Caitlin), especially without having to play under the constraint of 94 feet, we will continue to work on it.”

White hopes to spare Clark’s legs and maximize her more than 20 minutes per game until she finds her health.

That Clark can recover his legs without another prolonged absence is concern.

She had six seasonal points with eight reversals in Seattle when she was awkwardly needed to launch a second prolonged program of the programming this season. According to Wednesday, the last four Clark games brush a dark image. The fever is 1-3 in these games and Clark is 17 out of 59 on the ground with 26 reversals.

“We are going to repair it,” said Clark.
