In the United Arab Emirates, Minister Silvio Costa Filho meets the authorities and the productive sector on integrated logistics — Ports and airports

The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, met this Wednesday with the Secretary of Infrastructure and Transport of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Al Mansouri, during his second day of official agenda in Dubai. Among the main themes of the mission, the minister seeks to strengthen and establish partnerships in the field of integrated logistics, expand air connectivity and diversify routes between the UAE and Brazil, in addition to attracting investments for the ministry’s project portfolio, which includes leasing and concessions of ports, airports and waterways.
“It was a very productive meeting. We talked about integrated models of logistics, decarbonization and port modernization, which make the Emirates a global benchmark,” the minister said. “This exchange is essential to bring Brazil closer to advanced technologies, attract investments and strengthen the work we are carrying out under the government of President Lula to modernize our ports and logistics corridors,” he added.
Other goals on the agenda, which include meetings with the UAE’s public and private sectors, include topics aimed at strengthening technical cooperation and technological partnership between the two countries and dialogue on the sustainability agenda, decarbonization of maritime transport and the expansion of biofuels. On the first day of the mission, Tuesday (18), the minister visited the Dubai Airshow, a global aerospace industry exhibition, with more than 1,500 exhibitors and 148,000 participants.
Also this Wednesday morning, Costa Filho met with the CEO of Dnata, Steve Allen, which operates in several airports in Brazil, to discuss partnerships that strengthen Brazilian aviation. “Dnata has significant institutional importance for our country and demonstrates the growing confidence that the international market places in Brazil and Brazilian aviation,” said the minister. “We want to further strengthen our relations and, under the leadership of President Lula, expand the international agenda, which is fundamental for the development of Brazil, and Dnata is part of this collective construction,” he added.
Expansion of the air network
With the aim of increasing air connectivity and diversifying international air routes to Brazil, Costa Filho met with Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the world. Among the points agreed during the meeting was the possibility that the company would increase, over the coming years, the number of flights to the country, with a focus on the Northeast. “We had a very productive and optimistic meeting with Emirates representatives and I am sure that we will have new flight operations for our country. I am working hard to take an Emirates flight from Dubai to the northeast,” he assured.
With an estimated fleet of 260 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, Emirates Airlines has flight operations in 148 destinations across all continents. In Brazil, the company has routes to the airports of São Paulo/Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão, in addition to having a codeshare agreement – a commercial partnership between airlines to sell seats on flights operated by an associated company – with Azul, Gol and Latam.
