Brit Hume says Trump ‘should be a nominee’ for Nobel Prize

Fox News analyst Brit Hume said Thursday that President Donald Trump should easily win the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the deal to end the fighting in Gaza.
Trump announced Wednesday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a 20-point peace plan that includes the release of all hostages still held by the radical Islamic terrorist organization. Hume told Fox News host Martha MacCallum that the achievement should make Trump a candidate for the Peace Prize, especially given former President Barack Obama’s victory shortly after his 2008 election. “It’s a big day and a big deal and the president is talking about that Monday and Tuesday, he said, will be really exciting and I think, you know, discussing the Nobel Peace Prize is interesting,” Hume said. “I wonder why he would want to, because the Nobel Peace Prize, in the eyes of impartial observers, robbed itself of much of its credibility when the prize was awarded to Barack Obama even though he had done absolutely nothing except get elected.
He added that despite this, Trump “clearly would like to have it, he wants it and likes the prestige that he says always comes with it.”
Israel has carried out military operations in Gaza since Hamas carried out a deadly terrorist attack on several sites in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed more than 1,200 people. The radical Islamic terrorist group also took more than 200 hostages and is believed to still be holding 48 Israelis hostage, 20 of whom are still alive.
Hume seemed doubtful that Trump would receive the prize, despite his efforts.
“The president tried to bring peace, this president tried to bring peace all over the world and a number of conflicts were stopped largely because of his efforts,” Hume said. “If Barack Obama is the norm, the president should be a nominee, but I’m not counting on that.”
