Brie Larson and Jeremy Renner Address Potential MCU Returns in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS

The massif Avengers: Apocalypse The casting reveal featured several expected returnees, a number of previously rumored names, and plenty of surprises. A plot Actors from the MCU were absent, however, including OG Earth’s mightiest hero, Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and The wonders Starring Brie Larson.

It is very likely that these two actors will be back (if not for doomsdaythen surely Secret Wars), but we won’t know for sure until we get this second announcement.

There was a bigger question mark over Renner as he recovered from his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023, but he has since returned to work, and it appears he’s more than ready to bring Clint Barton out of retirement…again.

“I think he started to retire…but he always retired from retirement, you know,” THE Mayor of Kingstown the star tells ComicBoook.com. “I think he’s a family man; you always know where his allegiance lies, and he’s always coming out of retirement, man. Until he’s killed, he’ll always be working.”

Not exactly a confirmation, but he gave us a little more than Larson.

Marvel Studios is reportedly keeping (or attempting to keep) certain actors/characters under wraps until audiences sit down to watch these films, but we assume Renner and Larson will be confirmed before then.

Avengers: Apocalypse And Avengers: Secret Wars have recently experienced significant delays, with doomsday is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both films will be directed by the Russo brothers, who are also returning to the MCU after directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War And Avengers: Endgame.
