Breece Hall Trade Destinations: New York Jets Trade Candidates
The New York Jets have reached a point in the season where losing games could benefit them more. There is no single reason why the Jets have been so bad this year. The whole team could really do with a fresh coat of paint.
Since the team resumed its never-ending rebuild, Breece Hall’s name has started popping up a lot more often in trade rumors. Hall is currently in the final year of his rookie contract, and given how this season has gone in New York, I would be shocked to see him back on the Jets next year. Luckily for Hall, he’s probably having his most complete season since being drafted in 2022. That’s why the Jets need to sell high on Hall, and here are a few teams that might be a good fit.
Kansas City Chiefs
As long as Patrick Mahomes plays in Kansas City, the team needs to rally to win a championship.
After a slow start to the season, the Chiefs unsurprisingly figured things out and became Super Bowl favorites again. Mahomes carried a heavy offensive load, even being the team’s leading runner through six games. Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt are not a winning formula for a championship-contending backfield in 2025.
The Chiefs would be a great fit for Hall as he is only 24 years old and could easily be re-signed long-term in what will be a top-notch offense as long as Mahomes and Andy Reid are on the team. Hall could be strictly looking for a salary this offseason, and if that’s the case, the Chiefs could easily let him walk and rebuild the backfield throughout the draft.
Los Angeles Chargers
Staying in the AFC West, the Chargers backfield is currently dealing with multiple running back injuries. Najee Harris will miss this entire year with a torn Achilles and may never recover from the injury. Rookie Omarion Hampton is also on IR with an ankle injury and could be out for most of the regular season. Hampton hasn’t lit the world on fire to start the season anyway, so the addition of Breece Hall makes a lot of sense.
Kimani Vidal had a good game, leading the Chargers backfield with 124 yards, but how much of that was because he was against the Dolphins? Hall could be a perfect one-year solution for a Jim Harbaugh offense that loves to run the ball. I would be shocked if they could sign Hall to a contract extension, but if the Chargers want to be more than a first-round exit, they need to improve their backfield.
Chicago Bear
The Bears finally put D’Andre Swift on the field against the Commanders on Monday Night Football, but it’s been a rough season overall so far for Swift. While serving as offensive coordinator in Detroit, Ben Johnson set the league on fire with the two-headed beast of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
Would Swift and Hall be as deadly as this combination? Absolutely not, but it would be a much more explosive duo than currently. Swift hasn’t been a good fit for Johnson’s offense, so adding Hall, a much more talented runner, could be the perfect solution for the Bears. General manager Ryan Poles wasn’t afraid to make a trade midseason, so if he could bring Hall into this offense, the Bears would start to look like they might actually be ready for the playoffs.
