This is what Maria Gabriela Lacerda, Miss Universe Brazil 2025, wrote in an Instagram post after dressing as Notre Dame during the Miss Universe 2025 national costume competition on November 19 in Thailand.

Lacerda also appeared in a video alongside costume designer, Mario Cezar. She sees the costume for the first time and explains her devotion to the Blessed Mother. She says paying this tribute to Notre Dame and her Catholic faith “is the greatest achievement.”
“I am consecrated to Jesus by the hands of Our Lady. I am consecrated to Our Lady of Grace,” Lacerda says. “Because it is an external sign that reminds me of the commitment I made to Jesus through Our Lady.
“Being able to bear this woman’s name is so meaningful for our Brazil. I believe it makes me the happiest woman in the world,” Lacerda continues. “I believe that honoring the purest woman who has ever walked this earth – the most beautiful and humble woman – and who teaches me so much every day of my life – to have this opportunity to be able to pay this tribute to her, to my faith, I think that for me is the greatest achievement of this Miss Universe.”
Creator Mario Cézar also reveals that this dress was “one of the most special creations” of her life and considers it “a calling”.
Cezar added that this project transformed his life and that of his team members.
“When Gabi first spoke about honoring Our Lady of Aparecida, I felt a thrill. It wasn’t a theme…it was a call. And from then on, every conversation, every fitting, every handmade detail had a meaning that went far beyond fashion,” Cezar wrote in the Instagram caption. “Working on this project transformed me, and it also transformed our team. »
