Braves Sign Jorge Mateo – MLB Trade Rumors

The Braves announced today that they have signed a utility player Jorge Mateo on a one-year contract. The Movement Baseball client benefits from a $1 million guarantee, reports Francys Romero of BeisbolFR. Atlanta opened a 40-man roster last week when Jose Suarez was placed on waivers and claimed by the Orioles. The move brings them down to a full 40-man roster.
It’s probably no coincidence that Atlanta drafted a capable shortstop a day after the unfortunate Ha Seong Kim news. Atlanta announced yesterday that Kim injured his hand, apparently slipping on ice, in South Korea. He underwent surgery in Atlanta to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. He is expected to miss four to five months, meaning he will be out for much of the first half of the upcoming season.
More to come.
