BRAND NEW DAY role revealed after first look at photos

A lot Spider-Man: A Whole New Day Set photos have been making the rounds online since the film began filming in Glasgow in late July. However, we still know very little about what awaits us next summer.
Tombstone is confirmed to appear, as are The Punisher and The Hulk. There have been rumors that Sadie Sink might play Shathra, but Spider-Man: A Whole New DayThe big bad could, in fact, be The Scorpion.
Mac Gargan has been itching to get his revenge on the wall crawler ever since he encountered him in 2017. Spider-Man: Homecomingand a first look at Michael Mando’s return as the villain – sans costume – was revealed earlier today.
Now, scooper Daniel Richtman provides an update, claiming that Scorpio will play a huge role in Spider-Man: A Whole New Day. With that in mind, it seems safe to assume that he will suit up at some point; Whether J. Jonah Jameson plays a role in the villain’s origin story like he did in the comics remains to be seen.
As a reminder, Amazing Spider-Man #20 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko saw Jameson hire Gargan as a private detective tasked with uncovering the wall-crawler’s secret identity. When this plan failed, the editor of the Daily Bugle financed a procedure that transformed him into The Scorpion, only for the process to drive Gargan insane.
Does the bad guy make it to this Department of Damage Control prison or does he escape by helicopter? We think it’s the latter case, with the tank crashing into the building providing the perfect distraction for him to finally be freed.
You can take another look at Mando shooting his Spider-Man: A Whole New Day scenes like Gargan in the X post below.

Spider-Man: A Whole New Day shares a title with a controversial era of storytelling that, thanks to a deal with Mephisto, saw the wall-crawler get a fresh start when his marriage to Mary Jane Watson ended and his identity became a secret again. He faced many sinister new foes during this time and was surrounded by a revamped supporting cast, including Mister Negative, Jackpot, Menace and Carlie Cooper.
Instead, all signs point to Spidey teaming up with (and at one point fighting) The Punisher to take on a Savage Hulk, with The Scorpion thrown in for good measure.
Several other villains are expected to appear in the film, including Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang and Ramrod. There has been some discussion online about the Venom Symbiote being factored into the story, potentially paving the way for Mac Gargan to eventually don the alien costume.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton directs Spider-Man: A Whole New Day from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland leads a cast that also includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III and Liza Colón-Zayas. Love at first sight* star Florence Pugh also joined the cast.
Spider-Man: A Whole New Day will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
