West Ham Vice-President Karren Brady insisted that the club “does not panic” after a bad start of the Premier League campaign, manager Graham Potter should have the opportunity to stabilize the ship.
The Hammers underwent a 3-0 defeat against Sunderland newly promoted on Saturday, continuing a series of mixed results under Potter since his arrival in January.
The former boss of Brighton and Chelsea supervised 20 games so far, recording five victories, five draws and ten defeats after intervening for Julen Lopetegui in the middle of last season.
After the setback at the Light Stadium, some frustrated supporters expressed fears of a relegation struggle and called for a change in management.
But Brady clearly said on Talksport that the 50 -year -old retains the full support of the club:
“Graham is an avant-garde manager. He is sort of calm under pressure, he is very detailed in his approach, he is a great manager of players.
“He establishes a special relationship with players and they understand where he comes from.
“He has a modern state of mind and all these things mean that it takes a while to assemble a team, so that the team plays as you wish.
“West Ham is not a club that panics on its managers. We tend to stand with them, tend to support people, stay with them and see it.
“I really hope it is doing well. It is a pleasure to work with it, it is incredibly professional.
“I know that his relationship with the players is good. I know he will be sitting with them today to have a long and difficult to think about what went wrong yesterday, expecting a reaction and expecting things. ”
Northeast nightmare
Potter made his debut at several summer arrivals, including 19 million pounds sterling of signature El Hadji Malick Diouf of Slavia Prague and the goalkeeper of Denmark Mads Hermansen, who joined Leicester for 20 million pounds Sterling.
The new striker Callum Wilson also appeared from the bench after his passage from Newcastle, while the Kyle Walker-Peters recruit was an unused replacement.
However, the team still has no replacement of Mohammed Kudus, who left for Tottenham in an agreement of 55 million pounds Sterling.
Karen Brady:
“It was a very bad second half! We are on the ground, we need something. Unfortunately, the table cannot simply go out and buy players that the manager and Kyle do not want”
West Ham started alive, with chances for Jarrod Bowen and Diouf, but once Eliezer Maynda de Sunderland broke in 61 minutes, visitors collapsed. Two other goals followed in the last steps to seal a defeat that gives to think.
Reflecting on the result, Brady admitted: “I want yesterday to start again. It’s so difficult to take. It is never easy for supporters, players or the manager to lose 3-0, especially in the opening match of the season.
“I spent a lot of time with the manager and the team in America during the pre-season tour.
“The mind among them is fantastic. I know that they will be more disappointed, that they will be the most disappointed people this morning.
“I know we will see a reaction and I know they want to run it and they will want to overthrow it quickly.”
